Kirsh Bakery and Kitchen first opened it’s doors in April of 2016. Kirsh wanted to become a staple in the UWS neighborhood as a place for New Yorker’s to come for a quick coffee and pastry or a full meal, morning noon or night. The idea behind the full functioning retail bakery and restaurant is to make everything fresh every day and from scratch. Starting with the breads and pastries down to the jams and dressing, everything is made to order. The idea that great food is simple food made from scratch and from high quality ingredients has been the driving force behind Kirsh’s success.
Kirsh derived it’s name from Dan Kirsh, the owner and chef. After having huge success in Israel with his restaurant Zuni, Dan wanted to bring some of his signatures dishes to New York, including his legendary French Toast dishes. Doing French Toast both sweet and savory is something new to New York and has quickly caught on to become a favorite amongst the neighborhood and beyond.
Kirsh is open for Breakfast, Brunch and Dinner every day from 7am to 8pm. Kirsh has 2 dining options, the bakery/café which is more casual. The cafe selections are wide, starting with freshly baked pastries, breads, cakes, pies and cookies. If you are looking for something quick try one of their daily made grab and go sandwiches or salads. Kirsh has even created their own blend of coffee that is freshly roasted by Irving Farms locally here in New York. If you are looking for a more leisurely meal you can sit in the restaurant and have a full service experience. They offer a full breakfast menu seven days a week. Also starting at 11am the all day menu kicks in and has many options including breakfast items, all of the French Toasts, entrée salads and sandwiches, plus appetizers and entrees. Saturday and Sunday Kirsh also offers an extremely popular Brunch menu.
Kirsh has created such a following that they have expanded their options so that neighborhood people can have their events and parties catered with anything Kirsh creates. Kirsh has also created options for people to have their events and parties in the restaurant. The restaurant can accommodate up to 45 people seated and 55 people standing for anything you can imagine to celebrate. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, bridal or baby showers are just a few events Kirsh has already help to make special for neighborhood regulars.
